After our week in Val d'Isere we returned to Lyon to spend the night before heading home the following day. We fell in love with this marvelous city and have returned to spend more time. You can have Paris in the springtime or any other time -- give us Lyon!
Our hotel was very close to the Place Bellecour in the heart of Lyon and within walking distance of many of the traditional restaurants called bouchons. On subsequent visits we have tried to locate the restaurant we enjoyed that evening, but have been unsuccessful. We had a delightful exchange with our waiter in pidgin French and gestures as we tried to understand the menu. I'm not sure what we ate, but it was delicious!
The only sightseeing we had time to do was exploring the Roman amphitheater high above the city and visiting the Textile Museum. Lyon was a center of silk production for centuries. The production of more modern fabrics is still a major industry.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 20th anniversary expedition!
